CAR3 Barren Ground Caribou
This outfitter is in the heart of the Western and Central Arctic caribou herds on the North Slope, near Umiat and Kavik rivers. The population is steady with VERY good days and then some days you’re struggling to find a caribou. You’ll fly commercially to Fairbanks and then take a charter flight to Umiat. From there you’ll head out to spike camps via super cub aircraft (included in hunt cost). This hunt is featured in Tom Miranda’s DVD collection “Super Slam”, where he completed his Caribou slam. Caribou hunts vary from week to week, and you never know which weeks will be fast and furious and which weeks will be slower. They offer two different hunts: a “ridge hunt” or “raft hunt”. The rafts are motorized, and you return to same camp each night, offering more mobility up and down stream. Both are tent camp hunts.
Rates:6-day 2x1 hunt $14,900; 1x1 hunt $17,900; grizzly trophy fee $12,500; add charter flight $2,100, transportation fees for animals, license, and tags
