Bowhunting in Hawaii
If
you want to have a real inexpensive hunt on the islands, try for the feral
goats.
These Spanish Goats have impressive horns and are seen in abundance.
If you plan a goat hunt, bring plenty of arrows because you will get lots
of shooting and the rocky terrain claims most of the arrows after one shot.
Getting an Hawaiian hunting license can be an experience, so plan far
enough in advance so you can mail necessary paper work back and forth.
License is approx. $95.
One can hunt during the general season, but public land is hunted hard.
Best to use the services of a guide who has exclusive rights to hunt
large tracts of private property.
Trophy shipping is a snap, since you simply take them home as luggage.
Keep an eye open for special air fares to the Hawaiian Islands, as they
frequently have some really cheap flights.
Great place to go during the winter months.

There
are some great bow hunting opportunities in the Hawaiian Islands.
Here again, is a great place to slip in a few days of hunting while
vacationing.
Most of the hunting is on the Big Island of Hawaii,
Maui, Molokai, and Lanai (in that order).
The Big Island has the only true breeding flock of Muflon Sheep outside
of Europe.
One can also hunt Axis Deer, Indian Blackbuck, Turkeys, and Polynesian
wild boar.
With the possible exception of Western Molokai and some of the Kona side
of the Big Isand,
this hunting can be steep, so be in shape.
The rates are reasonable and the outfitters I’m working with are set up
for short (2-3 day) hunts.
This is good if you are vacationing with any non-hunting parties.
