This Buffalo is
found only in the Northern Territory of Australia. Most of
the hunting is on aborigine land, south of Darwin, Australia. Very
aggressive buffalo and thick skinned. This animal is half again heavier than
the African Cape Buffalo. The thick hide and big bones call for
heavy tackle and penetrating broadheads.
Be prepared to have the guide finish off this buffalo with a rifle if
arrow placement is not perfect. The Australian Water Buffalo is distinctive by
its
long straight horns. Although the water buffalo of South America is
the same sub specie, they have more of a curled horn. This is primarily
a one specie hunt as the time of the year they are hunted is dictated by the dry
season (July/Aug/Sept) and the antlered species have dropped their horns. Wild
boar are available during this hunt as well.
Water Buffalo are found in the scenic Northern Territory of Australia.
Most hunting is done on aboriginal land, East of Darwin, Australia. They
are
very aggressive and thick skinned. This animal can be slightly heavier
than the African Cape Buffalo. The thick hide and big bones call for heavy
tackle and tough penetrating broadheads.
Shot placement is critical on such large game. The Australian Water
Buffalo is distinctive by its long straight and slightly curved horns.
Although the water buffalo of South America are the same sub specie, they
have more of a curled horn. This tropical region also has Scrub Bull, Wild
Boar and Banteng, plus Barramundi fishing. The ideal time to hunt is
during the dry season from May to October. With July, August being the
best time. Our outfitter has an excellent track record with all bowhunters high
in the record books. Antlered species are also available in Australia's South
Eastern states or in New Zealand.
