Bowhunting Black Bear in Canada

Black Bears inhabit a large portion of North America. They can be found from the southwestern states of Arizona and New Mexico north to Alaska, and from the eastern providence of Newfoundland, west to British Columbia. Bowhunting Safari Consultants have identified outfitters throughout North America who provide excellent bowhunting opportunities, regardless of the method you prefer to bowhunt them.

We have hound hunts in Idaho, as well as New Mexico that provided excellent success rates. We have several outfitters who run baited hunts in Newfoundland, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Alaska. Bowhunts in Alberta, Newfoundland, and Alaska can be arranged for a two bear limit. We have identified outfitters who provide excellent spot and stalk bowhunts in Montana, Alberta, and British Columbia, as well as Alaska.

One question that is often asked is "what color bears to they have". New Mexico has a higher percentage of blonde / cinnamon bears than most areas, and Alberta has a high ratio of chocolate, cinnamon and blonde phase as well. It is not unusual to have 1/3 of the harvest in these areas be of color phases other than black. The rarest of all black bear color phases is the "glacier bear" which has a blue tint to the hide, and these bears are only found near Yakatat, Alaska. We have an outfitter there as well.

We work with some of the best outfitters in the business, and our clients year over year experience nearly 100% harvest rates on at least one bear. P & Y minimum 18".
