Bowhunting Wild Boar in Turkey
The Turkish boar is an awesome trophy! With a country that is 98% Muslim, they are forbidden to eat pork, thus the hogs are abundant. These are not like boars in North and South America, as these have bristle hair with very long snout. Boars up to 250 are not that uncommon and even 400 lbs. ones have been taken. It has required some indoctrination with local guides on how to best bowhunt these hogs, but baiting appears to be the most productive. They prefer drives, but hogs are flushed out running which make for difficult bow shot.
Wild boar can be hunted year around, but may be easier in the snow. However, game drives and baiting can also be very productive during the summer months. If you want to bowhunt some of the biggest wild boar in the world, serious consideration should be given to Turkey.
